ROBERT GELMAN

EXECUTIVE CHEF * NYY STEAK

Upon graduating from Tulane University in the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert began his culinary career working at a few prestigious restaurants in the French Quarter. It was there that he honed his skills as a seasoned cook and eventual Chef, learning from French, Cajun, Creole, and Italian Chefs, eventually becoming the Saucier at Mr. B's Bistro on Royal Street. From there, Robert was hired as a Sous Chef by Harrah's Casino Downtown New Orleans, running his first upscale, high-volume kitchen.

Later, Robert moved to New York City where he was picked as Executive Chef by the famous P.J. Clarke's, to open up their newest and most upscale restaurant across from Lincoln Center in Manhattan. After a successful stay with P.J. Clarke's, Robert was hired by McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants and moved to Washington, DC to open one of their busiest locations nationwide at National Harbor, on the Potomac River.

Now, as Executive Chef for NYY Steak, Robert can lend his culinary heritage and leadership skills to what is fast becoming one of New York City's legendary steakhouses!

Robert grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Tulane University's School of Business with a degree in finance. Along with his love of cooking, he is an avid guitar player and music aficionado.
